Are You The Maryland Lottery’s $2.2 Million Multi-Match Jackpot Winner?

Posted on November 12, 2021

A lucky Maryland Lottery winner on the Eastern Shore scored the second-largest Multi-Match jackpot of the year: $2.2 million.

On Nov. 4, the winner purchased the multi-million-dollar Multi-Match ticket at Eden Quickstop in Eden, MD (31680 Eden Allen Road). The winning ticket had the numbers 9, 12, 22, 24, 28 and 41.

This jackpot was the MD Lotto‘s biggest prize of the week. It was also the fifth time this year that a Multi-Match jackpot was won. On Feb. 4 a woman in Baltimore county claimed a $2.8 million Multi-Match jackpot.

So how does this game work and what are my odds of winning? Below you’ll find a full breakdown of this Multi-Match game:

How to play Multi-Match

At any Maryland Lottery retailer, a Multi-Match ticket costs $2. For this lotto-style game, you can play 18 numbers to get four chances to win.

When playing this game, you can either choose your first line of six numbers, or you can choose Quick Pick, in which all of your numbers are randomly picked for you.

After your first pick, you will automatically receive two additional lines of six randomly selected numbers.

How to win Multi Match drawings

Every Monday and Thursday night, the MD Lottery draws six numbers for the Multi-Match drawing. The numbers span from 1 to 43.

For an example of the drawing in action, check out the actual video of the Nov. 4 draw:

And here’s how to win:

  • If you match between three and five numbers on any one line, you can win up to $1,000 for that line.
  • If you match between five and 18 numbers total on all three lines combined, you can win up to $2,000 more.
  • And if you match all six on any one line, you can win a jackpot that starts at $500,000 and goes up from there every time the big prize isn’t won.

The impact of Multi-Match on MD Lottery

Maryland Lottery & Gaming officials tell PlayMaryland that Multi-Match sales were $33.7 million in the fiscal year of 2021. It’s a large number, but the sales represent just 1.3% of the lottery’s total sales for the fiscal year.

Still, the game has its loyal players, and they’ve won some big jackpots this year.

So far this year, players have scored these top prizes:

  • Feb. 4: $2.75 million
  • April 22: $1.4 million
  • May 3: $520,000
  • July 5: $1 million
  • Nov. 4: $2.2 million
The largest jackpot in Multi-Match history was $4.8 million, which a player won in September 2009.
Officials said the recent winner from the Nov. 4 drawing has not yet claimed the prize. They have 182 days from the date of the drawing to do so.
