MGM Increasing Presence At Nationals Park With New Sportsbooks

Last week the Washington Nationals announced BetMGM as its official sports betting partner, a move that will bring a sportsbook and mobile wagering to Nationals Park.

According to the team, the BetMGM Sportsbook will be located in the space now known as Center Field Social, which is outside the center field gate, across from the Nationals Team Store.

Fans attending a Nationals game will not be able to access the sportsbook from within the stadium. However, as part of the partnership with the Nationals, BetMGM will launch a mobile app for fans that will accept wagers from their seats and within a two-block radius around Nationals Park.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in the release.

BetMGM Joins William Hill at DC sporting venues

Sportsbooks continue to establish a presence at DC sporting venues.

In July 2020, William Hill opened the country’s first-ever sportsbook at a professional sports venue with its temporary sportsbook at Capital One Area. A permanent sportsbook is currently under construction in the area formerly occupied by the Greene Turtle at the home of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals.

FanDuel has also announced a partnership with D.C. United to open a sportsbook at Audi Field in 2021.

Improving the Nationals Park fan experience

The Nationals will be among the first MLB teams to open a sportsbook at the ballpark. In September 2020, DraftKings Sportsbook and the Chicago Cubs announced plans for a sportsbook to open at Wrigley Field.

At Nationals Park, the BetMGM Sportsbook will join the MGM National Harbor Dugout Club as MGM-branded amenities. The Nationals opened the Dugout Club, an eight-seat luxury sports box located on the field adjacent to the Nationals dugout, in 2017.

BetMGM and the Nationals also plan to create new exclusive benefits for members of each partner’s respective loyalty programs, MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards and Red Carpet Rewards.

In a statement, BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said:

“This new partnership with the Nationals is our most-in-depth partnership with a team and showcases the multitude of ways we’re able to engage fans in and out of stadiums. We’re extremely excited to work together to create unique experiences for Nationals fans and the broader D.C. metro area during and after games.”

BetMGM is currently live in 11 states with plans to launch a BetMGM Sportsbook in Virginia upon regulatory approval. MGM Resorts is the official gaming partner of Major League Baseball, a partnership announced in 2018.
