Crab Sports launches in Maryland

Crab Sports launched Thursday, becoming the 11th online sportsbook to go live in Maryland.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency announced the launch of the Maryland-based operator, which has pledged to be the No. 1 local sportsbook in the state.

Crab Sports enters a Maryland online sports betting industry which has thrived in its first seven-plus months, creating more than $20 million in state tax revenue.

Its license was awarded to Crab Sports, Inc., and its operator partner iGaming Cloud, Inc. It’s available at crabsports.com.

Crab Sports is the newest Maryland online sportsbook

Crab Sports joins a list of mostly nationally-known brands in the Maryland sports betting space.

FanDuel and DraftKings have absolutely dominated thus far, taking more than 80% of the market share. BetMGM, Caesars, Barstool, PointsBet, BetRivers, BetFred, SuperBook and Fanatics are the others, with Fanatics in just its second month of operation.

Crab Sports is taking a different route, however, in its push as a local sportsbook. It partnered with Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, and plans to be 100% dedicated to Maryland.

Its welcome offer is a $410 deposit match bonus. While that isn’t as high as many other Maryland sports betting bonuses, it does scream Maryland, as its the area code for most of the state, including Baltimore.

Crab Club brings local connections to Maryland sports bettors

Like other sportsbooks, Crab Sports has its own loyalty program. However, it’s quite a bit different than what you’re used to.

The Crab Club partners with other Maryland businesses, including Jimmy’s, Quincy’s, Route One Apparel and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

In the company’s pinned tweet on its Twitter profile, it claims it will reward bettors with discounts from its partners.

Crab Sports offers robust sports betting options

While the focus is local, and that could be what separates Crab Sports from the rest, it also looks to have a good amount of betting markets available.

At launch, on a day where not much was happening stateside in terms of sports, Crab Sports had bets available for Wimbledon, NBA Summer League, the Euro U20 basketball championships, badminton and much more.

That’s on top of already having Week 1 NFL lines and futures odds available.
