Fanatics Sportsbook Debut FedEx Field

Fanatics Sportsbook at FedEx Field is open for business.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 20 marked both the nationwide debut of Fanatics Sportsbook and the first legal betting parlor inside an NFL stadium.

The new sportsbook is next to the Commanders Team Store, which Fanatics operates. The sportsbook will be open daily, except for Commanders’ game days.

FedEx Field celebrates national debut of Fanatics Sportsbook

With January’s debut, Fanatics Sportsbook became the 10th retail sportsbook in Maryland.

Even more noteworthy — this retail location became the first Fanatics Sportsbook in the nation.

In-person sports gambling began in December 2021 in Maryland. Online sports betting started in November 2022. Maryland’s sports betting law allows for retail sportsbooks inside professional sports venues.

This launch also marks a first in the NFL world.

Chris Bryant, Washington Commanders 2022 Fan of the Year, placed the first wager at the sportsbook on Friday morning. Bryant’s $20 parlay bet was on a hometown moneyline wager that both the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards would win their next games.

Fanatics Sportsbook has backing of merchandising giant

Fanatics, the sports merchandising and apparel giant, has an existing partnership with the Commanders and FedEx Field. Fanatics Betting & Gaming, the company’s gambling division, realized Landover’s NFL stadium presented a unique opportunity to launch Fanatics Sportsbook.

Official word came last week when the brand announced its FedEx Field grand opening.

Ari Borod, Fanatics Betting & Gaming chief business officer, told PlayMaryland the FedEx Field location is just the first step toward a larger goal for both the retail and online sports betting space.

“It’s the first manifestation of the vision we’ve had, which is bringing the best customer experience to sports fans across the country. (Some)where they can come, place a bet, be able to buy merchandise of their favorite players or favorite teams, all in one place.”

Fanatics caters to fanatics

Fanatics Sportbook at FedEx Field will be open 10 a.m. to midnight, except on Commanders game days. The book has its own entrance at Gate H.

The NFL’s Commercial Gambling policy prevents the Fanatics Sportsbook from taking bets on days when the Washington Commanders play at home. Food and beverage service will be permitted, and the games will be on inside the sportsbook space.

The 5,000-square-foot space features eight betting windows, 21 self-service betting kiosks, two LED video walls, 38 TV monitors and a full-service restaurant.

Commanders Team President Jason Wright said the new sportsbook would serve the community and the fans.

“When our journey began over two years ago, we knew we had to reinvigorate the guest experience at FedExField and open the campus to the community. Today is a special moment in realizing that vision as we open this innovative sportsbook, operating seven days a week for sports fans throughout our community.”
