Independence Day

With the latest Horseshoe Baltimore mask policy change, fully vaccinated patrons can now go mask-free at all Maryland online casinos. Conveniently, the city of Baltimore issued its new guidance just in time for the Independence Day holiday.

The Horseshoe and other MD casinos will welcome crowds with special events this July 4 weekend. Their hope is that the eased restrictions will make guests feel welcome to partake.

New Horseshoe Baltimore mask policy for Independence Day

According to the casino website, the policy is for guests to comply with local mandates. As of Thursday, Baltimore no longer requires fully vaccinated residents and visitors to wear face masks indoors.

However, the mask mandate remains in effect for people who are not fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means at least two weeks have passed since receiving the second dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or the one-dose Johnson & Johnson inoculation.

With the mask mandate and state of emergency lifted, MD casinos are making renewed efforts to get people back through their doors for the Fourth of July. For example, Hollywood Casino in Perryville is offering a special Fireworks Game.

Gamblers can swipe their players cards at any kiosk on the gaming floor this Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., then hit the promotions button. Some players will win bonus slot play, worth anywhere from $10 to $300. Hollywood isn’t the only place putting on a show for Independence Day weekend.

Other casino promotions for July 4 weekend

On Fridays and Saturdays during July, Live! Casino & Hotel in Hanover has $400 poker High Hand payouts rolling every 20 minutes from 11 a.m. to midnight in its poker room. The High Hands action picks up even more on Sundays this month at Live!, as they are worth $500 and start every 15 minutes from noon to 10 p.m.

Live! is also running multiple special poker tournaments this Independence Day weekend for rounders. All tournaments take place in the poker room, and the current schedule includes:

  • Friday, July 2: $450 Buy-In Live! Size Multi-flight $100,000 Guaranteed at 11:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.; $50 Live! Size Turbo Satellite at 3:15 p.m.; $320 Triple Greenchip Bounty at 7:15 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 3: $50 Live! Size Turbo Satellite at 9:15 a.m. and $450 Buy-In Live! Size Multi-flight $100,000 Guaranteed at 11:15 a.m.
  • Sunday, July 4: $450 Buy-In Live! Size Multi-flight $100,000 Guaranteed at 11:15 a.m.; $200 Limit Big O at 12:15 p.m.; $130 Triplestacks Turbo at 6:15 p.m.

Staying on the poker trend, MGM National Harbor welcomes you to ante up this weekend as well. Poker promotions include $200 Lucky Tables every hour from 10:15 a.m to 10:15 p.m. on Sunday and Flop Fireworks from 8:15 a.m. on Sunday through 10:15 p.m. on Monday, July 5.

MGM is also giving away $25 gift cards from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday for players who accumulate 175 slot points or 1,400 M Life Rewards tier credits between 6 a.m and 5:30 p.m. that day.

Not to be undone, Ocean Downs Casino offers its Oh Say Can You Spin promotion on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Every hour during that span, the casino will select one patron actively playing with their card to select an envelope containing a prize such as cash or bonus play credit.

If gambling isn’t your thing, fret not. Some of these same facilities have you covered with other forms of entertainment.

Live entertainment options for the holiday

Hollywood Casino has a live DJ in its Promo Zone from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Additionally, the Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grill will feature live acoustics during those same hours on Friday, July 2, provided by Collin Athas. On Saturday, July 3, from 8 p.m. until midnight, the Greene Turtle will host a regional band, Fess Up!

On Sunday at Ocean Downs’ track, harness racing is back. In addition, family activities include live juggling, a chicken dance competition, and bouncy horse races. First post is at 7 p.m.

With more freedom to move about, this weekend should be quite enjoyable at any of these MD casinos.
