Maryland received $69.4 million in taxes from the six casinos in the state in June, according to figures released by Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency on Thursday.
Revenue from slot machines and table games was $163,717,230 last month, which represents a 0.6% increase from June of 2022.
Gaming revenue from the state’s six casinos for 2023 is now over $675 million through the end of June. Of that total, table games revenue is $333.5 million.
More than $50 million of the taxes collected from casino gaming in June went to the state’s Education Fund ($50,433,185), bringing the total contributed for that purpose to more than $250 million in 2023.
Six Maryland Casinos are led by MGM National Harbor in June
Maryland has six casinos:
- Hollywood Casino Perryville, located in Cecil County
- Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, in Baltimore City
- Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County
- MGM National Harbor, in Prince George’s County
- Ocean Downs Casino, in Worcester County
- Rocky Gap Casino Resort, in Allegany County
MGM National Harbor led in revenue once again in June 2023, with $69,043,101. Their facility in Oxon Hill has 2,290 slot machines and 210 table games.
The largest gaming floor in the state is at Live! Casino & Hotel, with 3,845 slot machines and 179 table games. Last month, it reported $57,979,627 in revenue from those activities. Live! reported the largest increase YTD, at 3.5% compared to June 2022.
The other four casinos came in at $15,941,209 for Horseshoe; $8,679,006 in revenue for Ocean Downs; $6,954,407 for Hollywood Casino Perryville; and $5,119,881 for Rocky Gap. Both Horseshoe (-6.5%) and Hollywood Casino (-5.9%) saw drops of more than 5% in comparison to the same month in 2022.
