We’re less than 11 weeks away from the Super Bowl LVI, and the future odds for teams to win the NFL championship game are changing by the week.
These odds fluctuate weekly, and they’re subject to teams’ records, key injuries, remaining schedule and other factors.
But as we wait in anticipation for Sunday, Feb. 13, the date of the 2022 Super Bowl, you’ll find that the Baltimore Ravens are top 10 contenders heading into “the Big Game.”
Baltimore Ravens odds for Super Bowl LVI
Last week, we reported on the pending NFL Playoffs and how regulators need to get Maryland sports betting live before then. In that report, we mentioned that the Baltimore Ravens were +1200 to win the Super Bowl, with an implied probability of 7.7%.
Now, heading into Week 13, the odds for the Ravens to win Super Bowl LVI are even shorter. At FanDuel Maryland, for example, the Ravens are now +1100, an implied probability of 8.33%. That’s a modest .6% increase compared to Week 12.
Those shorter odds are good news for the two-time Vince Lombardi champions. After all, sportsbooks are getting more and more bullish on the Ravens’ chances as the season wears on.
However, it’s somewhat bad news for Ravens bettors. After all, they’re seeing their potential profit on a Ravens Super Bowl futures bet dwindle each week. Before the season started, for example, the Ravens were +1400 to win the Super Bowl.
These latest odds are due, in part, to the Ravens’ great defensive performance during Sunday Night Football. The Ravens scored a 16-10 victory against a division rival, the Cleveland Browns, with a successful prime-time performance.
The Ravens now lead the AFC North and have the top seed in the AFC conference.
The odds are in Baltimore Ravens’ favor
As the 2021 NFL season winds down, the Ravens have a jam-packed division schedule ahead.
This coming Sunday, Dec. 5 (4:25 p.m., CBS), they face the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-5-1), a team that the Cincinnati Bengals obliterated, 41-10, on Sunday.
The Ravens are 3.5-point favorites (-105) heading into the game, which marks the first BAL-PIT game of the season. On the moneyline, Baltimore is -145. That implies the Ravens have about a 59.2% chance of beating the Steelers on Sunday.
Four of Baltimore’s six remaining games, including Sunday’s matchup, are against division foes. This includes a home game against the Steelers to close out the regular season and road games against the Browns and Bengals.
These matchups will be crucial, especially since the Bengals are right on the Ravens’ heels in the division standings. The Bengals (8-3) currently sit in second place in the AFC North with a 3-1 division record.
But no matter how ugly it gets for the Ravens, they’re still in a good position to contend for the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in their conference. In fact, the odds are in their favor. According to BetRivers Sportsbook Maryland, the Ravens’ odds of winning their division are -200, an implied probability of 66.7%.
Other Super Bowl LVI favorites
Not surprisingly, the defending Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+500), have the shortest odds of winning the Super Bowl.
It’s also no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs (+700) fall right behind Tom Brady and the Bucs in terms of Super Bowl fututes. But who wants to see a repeat of Super Bowl LV anyway?
Here you’ll find the odds for the Top 10 teams to win the Super Bowl (per BetRivers):
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +500
- Kansas City Chiefs: +700
- Green Bay Packers: +800
- Buffalo Bills: +800
- Arizona Cardinals: +800
- New England Patriots: +1000
- Baltimore Ravens +1100
- Dallas Cowboys: +1300
- Los Angeles Rams: +1300
- Tennessee Titans: +2500
As mentioned previously, these odds will continue to change as we get closer to Super Bowl LVI. So if you see a line you like, you’ll need to get to a state where you can place a legal bet.
Odds of Super Bowl betting in Maryland
Maryland’s Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) recently awarded five casinos in Maryland a sports betting license. But the question is: When will they take bets? Will they be ready for the NFL postseason?
Maryland Lottery officials said retail sportsbooks could ramp up within 45 days of license approval. This means by the first week of January, Marylanders could place a bet inside of these five casinos:
- Horseshoe Casino Baltimore (partnered with Caesars Sportsbook)
- Live! Casino & Hotel (FanDuel Sportsbook)
- MGM National Harbor (BetMGM Sportsbook)
- Hollywood Casino Perryville (Barstool Sportsbook)
- Ocean Downs (TwinSpires)
Based on this, I’d say the odds are in sports bettors’ favor to be able to place a bet in time for Super Bowl on Feb. 13, even if there are minor delays with issuing these casinos a license. Let’s just hope the Ravens make it to the final game so we can bet on them.
