Barstool opens sports bar and restaurant at Hollywood Perryville

A new Barstool Sportsbook-branded restaurant and sports bar opened last month inside Hollywood Casino Perryville.

The launch complements the retail sports betting kiosks already in place at the casino and comes at a time when anticipation for Maryland online sports betting is at an all-time high.

Maryland online sports betting is still on its way, and Barstool Sportsbook is gearing up by enhancing its retail presence with a new restaurant and sports bar.

The sports community was quick to show its support. Former Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap was present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and VIP event on Oct. 16, and former Ravens cornerback Duane Starks attended the public opening two days later. Heap said he was thrilled about the new addition to the community:

“Anything that has to do with the small community that we love here in Baltimore is great. This is a great venue, and I was excited to come out here and see it and be a part of its opening.”

The new sports bar sits adjacent to the casino’s Barstool Sportsbook kiosks and offers full-service dining and live entertainment options. The location also features an array of TVs and other extracurricular features associated with the Barstool brand.

Barstool Sports is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with bar service from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

New restaurant is family-friendly

Barstool’s new restaurant is open to all ages, with a separate entrance for patrons under 21 years old.

Hollywood Casino Perryville General Manager Amy Brennan said it was important to keep gambling separate from the establishment because there are not a lot of other local dining options. Bettors can still use the kiosks located just outside the restaurant, though. And they’ll be able to place bets inside the restaurant via the Barstool Sportsbook app once online sports betting goes live in Maryland.

Some attractions for youngsters include:

  • Cornhole
  • Air Hockey
  • Bubble Hockey

Other amenities include more than 50 TVs with surround sound, reclining chairs and couches. Live entertainment acts on weekends will feature both bands and DJs. Brennan said:

“This will be one of the most fun, engaging, dynamic places to be to watch a game, anytime. It is different from anything else offered locally in terms of entertainment, so come out and give us a shot.”

This is Barstool’s second restaurant-sportsbook

The Barstool restaurant-sportsbook in Perryville is the second of its kind. Its sister location is inside Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg in Indiana.

Lawrenceburg’s has 25 betting kiosks inside the restaurant. But it has just 20 TVs — less than half of what the new Perryville restaurant boasts.

Perryville Mayor Matt Roath added his support.

“As a Cecil County jock in my day, it is always nice to see people enjoying sports and more TVs and entertainment. With everything going on around the restaurant, this is going to be a great addition to that profit.”

Restaurant-sportsbooks have become a trend in Maryland. Live! Casino & Hotel, MGM National Harbor, Horseshoe Baltimore and Long Shot’s all figure to have similar concepts in their big-picture plans.

Could the Barstool Sportsbook app go live before 2023?

Marylanders have been able to bet on sports at retail locations since last December. However, they’re still eagerly awaiting the ability to bet online.

A prospective September launch date went from unlikely to a firm “No,” leaving bettors to look to 2023.

But recent developments from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency produced the first 10 online sports betting operators eligible for license approval. All 10 operators should gain licensure on Nov. 16, when Maryland regulators next assemble.

Assuming all sportsbooks are approved, Maryland’s first 10 online sportsbooks will be:
