Live! Casino Maryland kicks off new year with poker open

Nearly $1 million is up for grabs starting Jan. 4 when Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland in Hanover hosts the 2023 Mid Atlantic Poker Open. The tournament features 16 events over 13 days to kick off the new year in style.

Live! Casino poker room boasts 50 tables

Online poker is not allowed in the state, but live poker in Maryland is thriving. In fact, this isn’t the first World Poker Tour event Live! Casino has hosted over the years.

The 2023 Mid Atlantic Poker Open invites players to battle it out at arguably Maryland’s best poker room for a guaranteed $900,000 prize pool for the winner. The tournament will feature amateur players as well as veterans in the professional poker community. The Main Event has a $500,000 guarantee.

The buy-in amount varies for each of the 16 events taking place through Jan. 16. Participants must register in person at the Live! Casino. Ryan Eller, general manager of Live!, said the casino is excited to host its first tournament of 2023.

“Poker tournaments of this caliber are always a very well received offering to bring to our guests. The Mid Atlantic Poker Tournament brings a massive prize pool and an even more impressive prize guarantee for the Main Event, and we are looking forward to the exhilarating competition we expect to see between poker pros and novices.”

Live! Casino was partly chosen to host the 2023 Mid Atlantic Poker Open because of its poker room, which is regarded as one of the best in the nation. Marketed as a “luxurious experience,” this poker room is two stories tall and features a whopping 50 tables. The poker room also has a private bar as well as masseuses on site ready to provide a needed massage.
