bet365 Sportsbook Launch Maryland

After a long wait for sports gamblers in Maryland, online sports betting is finally up and running. But one operator that’s yet to receive a license in The Old Line State is bet365.

PlayMaryland has all the latest updates on when to expect a bet365 sportsbook app to launch in Maryland.

Bet365 not among first Maryland sportsbook apps

Online sports betting in Maryland debuted on Nov. 23 with seven online sportsbooks going live in the state. Bet365, however, wasn’t among the pack.

Instead, the first brands off the starting line included:

Three additional sportsbooks also received licenses, though they weren’t cleared for the initial launch:

Betfred became the state’s eighth online sportsbook in early February.

Before receiving the official green light, Fanatics and BetParx must now complete controlled demonstrations to prove they work as intended. That means Maryland sports bettors could welcome another new sportsbook to the pack in early 2023.

Still, it won’t be bet365.

License application details remain unknown

A total of 10 online sportsbooks have now been awarded licenses in Maryland.

Two additional sportsbooks — Bally Bet and WynnBet — have also received initial approval from Maryland regulators and are now working their way through the licensing process. But again, there’s been no sign of bet365.

In all, Maryland regulators received applications from 21 operators, though the names of the remaining operators were not revealed.

It’s unknown exactly where bet365 is in the licensing process — or if the brand has even applied for a license in the state. But in that Maryland regulations allow for up to 60 online sportsbooks, there’s certainly no shortage of licenses to be awarded.

PlayMaryland has reached out to bet365 representatives for further comment and will update this story accordingly.

Bet365 has been operating for over 2 decades

Given the brand’s history, Marylanders have every reason to believe that bet365 will eventually make its way to the Old Line State.

Bet365 was created in 2000. And in the last 22 years, it’s grown into one of the world’s leading online operators. The sportsbook operates in 150 different countries and in 21 different languages. In March 2021, year-over-year bet365 revenue was just under $3 billion. Profits were nearly $500 million.

Most recently, bet365 has begun to push into the US as online gambling becomes legal in various states. The sportsbook currently operates in New Jersey and Colorado.

With any luck, Maryland could soon join that list of states offering year-round betting via bet365.
